In 1988, CBC’s Midday showed viewers how a group of avid golfers from St. John’s found a way to play their favourite game even when the weather didn’t allow them to get out to the golf green.

Harvey Spurrell explained that computer golf helped him and his friends extend their season year-round. “We have a regular foursome that get together every Sunday during the summer months,” he explained.

“And as soon as the boys saw [the computer version], of course, we had to get together during the winter.”
