Canadian man lived in fear, faced threats of execution while in Chinese detention

Canadian Kevin Garratt was held in a Chinese prison for 19 months after being accused of spying and stealing military secrets. His message to current Canadian detainees Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor is “to hold onto hope.” Authorities in China have formally arrested Kovrig and Spavor, accusing them of crimes related to national security.
