Jerrie Cobb on the need to send women to space, 1963

American pilot Jerrie Cobb hoped to be “the first Western woman in space,” according to an interview she gave to CBC’s Take 30 back in September 1963. And as Cobb explains, she saw no reason that women couldn’t take part in space exploration.

Note: This aired on Sept. 16, 1963.
