Ontario teen keeps debut play a secret from family

Julie Phan’s first play Fine China debuted at Toronto’s Fringe Festival last summer. The 18-year-old wrote the play while she was still in high school, drawing inspiration from her experience as the child of immigrants. But Phan is choosing to keep the play and her creative pursuits a secret from her family.
