Skyrocketing costs leave the future of the 2021 Francophonie Games in question

The next Francophonie Games in 2021 were supposed to be New Brunswick’s time to shine. They’re the largest sporting and cultural event in the French-speaking world. But now it’s unclear whether the games will go ahead. Costs have ballooned to more than seven times the original estimate, and it’s unclear who, if anyone, is willing to pay.
