This app is ‘the Airbnb for hourly paid work’

A Toronto–based company is calling its app ‘the Airbnb for hourly paid work.’ Hyr launched in February 2017 and connects restaurants and bars to temporary workers. It adds a new dimension to the growing gig economy — connecting workers and customers directly through a smartphone app — while raising questions about how to protect the workers who depend on it.
